Yes, ladies and gentlemen, that creepy (literally) film from yesterday has another part. And thank you so much for not making the title awkward or ridiculous like “More adventures of Creep” or “Creep, girl and a wolf mask”. We got “Creep 2”. Whoever comes up with stupid titles, here’s an example how you should be doing it. So as you may be guessing, we continue that amazing experience with Josef (Mark Duplass). Or should I say Aaron, because that’s the name that he is going by now. It’s still the same guy. He just changed his name. After the first part, you shouldn’t be surprised with such a trivial update. This time he contacts a woman, Sara (Desiree Akhavan). Surprisingly, he doesn’t hide anything from her. At the first meeting Aaron tells her that he’s a serial killer and he wants her to film a documentary about his “life work”. Meaning, 39 kills. Sara is promised not to be harmed for 24 hours and offered 1,000 dollars for her work. For a collage student it’s a lot of money but I guess an average one would refuse and run away as fast as possible. However, Aaron is lucky because his new videographer is equally creepy as him. Or maybe even more? For me the first part was slightly better because I was discovering Josef/Aaron and almost till the end I wasn’t sure who the hell this guy is. And perhaps because I knew a bit more about him before watching the second part, it wasn’t that… exciting? Still, part two is also good and it didn’t disappoint me. I got what I expected and I could “enjoy” watching that creep again. But there’s still one thing that bothers me… Is Mark Duplass a good actor or he’s that creepy naturally? I guess I need to keep analysing his work. Small interesting fact: Desiree Akhavan, who played Sara in this film, is the director of “The Miseducation of Cameron Post”, which I recommended you some time ago. Still not sure about Duplass, but Akhavan is definitely a very… eccentric artist.

Meet Peachfuzz. “Creep” (2014)

Today I’m giving you a very simple but the creepiest film I’ve seen this year. The title is absolutely perfect to describe what’s going on during those 80 minutes. Honestly, I didn’t expect much before watching it due to its rating. Still, I decided to give it a try because I wanted to see some slightly strange horror. Also Mark Duplass plays the main role, which seemed a wonderful idea to me. And it was. This man makes me feel so uncomfortable. I don’t know if it’s just his appearance, his face or if he’s actually a very good actor. Anyway, his name in the film is Josef. He’s a married man and a father-to-be. Unfortunately, he finds out about the tumour in his brain and he has only few months to live. Therefore he decides to call Aaron (Patrick Brice), a videographer. His job is to make a film for Josef’s unborn son. Seems a bit ridiculous? Perhaps. And the longer you watch the film, the weirder it becomes. Personally, I love such films which are different and make me feel like a part of the whole universe that the producers created. Still, it is not a horror. Definitely not. It’s a deeply psychological thriller. At some point you start questioning your own self. Aren’t I lonely? What am I doing with my life? Who are my friends? Aren’t I a creep myself? Those were some questions that came to my mind while watching the film. Creepy indeed. And the whole story messed up with my mind so badly that… I laughed at the end. You will understand why it’s a bit disturbing after you see the film. I honestly laughed. No worries, I’m fine now, but was it disturbing? As hell. So go for it! Hope you will laugh as well so I don’t feel like a creep on my own.
